Italian
Beer and wine only
Tiny and Italian are the perfect combination for an out-of-the-way
romantic dinner date. The price is right too.
The Ambience:
There are about eight tables in Vogalonga and yet it's never
too hard to get one. Trattoria style cans of tomatoes and bottles
of truffle oil line the counters. It's a little too well lit
and there's NO excuse for the awful Italian pop music playing.
Once I was there when children were screaming and running into
things. Neither the parents nor the staff made any attempt to
control them. Cute it was not.
The Menu:
Pizza, pastas, parmigianas, fish etc. They also have a few nightly
specials, but nothing especially exciting. $8-$13.
The Food:
I always really enjoy my food in this little Italian dinery,
so I'd certainly suggest the pasta. My partner in crime wasn't
too thrilled with the frutti di mare on linguini, but why would
anyone order that anyway? Personally, I have no complaints.
The Service:
Ummm, interesting in an "Are you on drugs?" sort of
way. She couldn't remember anything we ordered and kept trying
to serve us the food meant for the only other occupied table.
Spun about and careless she was, but friendly too.
Reservations: Not usually
necessary, but because it's so small it's a good idea.
Overall: B-
Decent food and so tiny it's cute. Better wait staff is needed.
